This cemetery
is located in Section 36, N 1/2 of NW 1/2 of NE 1/4. It is the Old Bethel
Baptist Church burying ground |
|
but
is usually called the Vermillion Cemetery. Quotes from Abner Goodwin's will
state: "I, Abner Goodwin of Owen County, |
State
of Indiana ... direct that my body be decently buried by the side of my first
wife ... There is one acre of land that I |
|
gave to the
Baptist Church in Putnam County for a public burying ground to be used for
that purpose by the people" |
