Martin Miller |
Martin George
Miller, son of Martin Luther Miller and Sallie (Ritchie) Miller. His father
was born in Germany and came to America in 1765. He served in the
Revolutionary War for 3 1/2 years under George Washington per History of
Putnam County, page 514. His mother was born in North Carolina. Not sure
where either of his parents are buried. Martin George Miller came from
Claiborne Co., Tennessee to Putnam Co., Indiana in 1812. He was married three
times. First to Anna Murrey about 1825/1830, second to Mary "Pop"
Riggles 20 Aug 1863 and third to Elizabeth Oliver 19 Mar 1867. |

First
wife of Martin George Miller, who is buried here. Daughter of John Murrey,
not sure who her mother was. Anna was born in Claiborne County, Tennessee. |

Mary Miller |
Second
wife of Martin George Miller. She was the daughter of George William Riggle
and Mary (Edwards) Riggle, who are buried in the Lafollette Cemetery
northwest of Raccoon. |

George Edwards |
George
Edwards' parents were James and Rachel Edwards, who are buried in the Edwards
Cemetery about one mile south of here. He married Polly Miller, daughter of
Martin and Anna (Murrey) Miller, who are buried here. Not sure where Polly is
buried. She was believed to have married again after George died to James
Nelson 13 May 1895 in Putnam County and later to a Mr. Taylor. |
